Self-Reliance in Layton
What are some easy steps we can take to become more self-reliant? Have you planted a tree, stored drinking water, or built up a few weeks of food storage?
We can help to connect you with neighbors and friends right here in your neighborhood who would gladly share a few self-sustaining steps.

Disaster Planning Checklist
It’s easy to take part in preparing for local natural disasters. You’re invited by Layton Citizen Corps Council (LCCC), volunteers serving as District and Area Coordinators, and Block Captains. We’re a collective of Layton citizens, faith based organizations, businesses, and other community groups to promote citizen preparedness.
Areas of Concentration
We put high importance on the priorities that matter most to our neighborhoods:
- Local Economy: Support local businesses and entrepreneurship to boost the neighborhood’s economic resilience and reduce reliance on external markets
- Education and Skill Building: Organize workshops, primary and secondary student classes, and vocational training programs to develop a self-sufficient and diverse skill set among residents.
- Health and Wellness: Promote community health initiatives and develop access to self-sustained healthcare services and mental health support to foster overall well-being.
- Mutual Support: Establish neighborhood support networks, mutual aid societies, and volunteer organizations to strengthen community bonds and promote assistance among residents.
- Resource Sharing: Encourage the sharing of tools, equipment, and resources within the community to optimize their use and reduce individual waste.
